18th November 2017 Update and thanks

Dear Foodbank Supporters and Donors,

Thank you very much indeed for your ongoing support over the past two weeks.

Since the last update on 4th November, we have distributed food to 172 people, (which has included 53 children). Our volunteers have ‘signposted’ the adults visiting our four centres to further help and support in order to begin to move them out of the crisis they are in.

WE ARE SO GRATEFUL FOR THE ONGOING SUPPORT OF THE COMMUNITY, AS WE WORK TOGETHER TO FEED PEOPLE GOING HUNGRY IN NUNEATON

THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO DONATES

We all would like to thank everyone who donates to the foodbank –  Churches – Schools – local businesses and organisations, and individual donors, who regularly donate food to help those in need locally.

We are always  very pleased to receive individual and corporate cash donations, which help us to purchase bread and spread and other items, such as baby milk, nappies etc which we add to foodparcels as needed.

HARVEST 2017 –Part Four

Harvest time is a very important period for foodbanks throughout the country, as generous gifts of non-perishable food at this time compliment our regular donations, and help support our work through to the winter and the Christmas periods.

Many local schools and churches help us at Harvest time, and at the time of writing this update we would like to acknowledge and thank Croft Junior School Nuneaton.

SO FAR THIS YEAR SCHOOLS AND CHURCHES HAVE DONATED AN AMAZING 3.69 TONS OF FOOD TO SUPPORT THOSE IN NEED IN NUNEATON AT HARVEST TIME!

THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH FOR YOUR WONDERFULLY GENEROUS SUPPORT

VOLUNTEERING

In order to provide the support needed at our four centres, and our warehouse,  which working together give access to emergency food parcels for those in need, we rely on the help of volunteers. We are always grateful for the help of volunteers, and there are a number of different jobs that need to be done in order to enable the Nuneaton Foodbank to operate efficiently.

If you would like to help us by being a volunteer please contact our Volunteer Co-ordinator ([email protected]).

SHOPPING LIST

We know that people like to know what we are particularly in need of when they are thinking of donating food, and at the moment we would be really grateful for:

Fruit juice;Tinned potatoes; UHT Milk; Steamed puddings; Jam

ONLY 37 days!

We are collecting Christmas Seasonal Items as we are now making up food parcels as part of the work that we undertake over the Christmas period with the Salvation Army, Children’s Centres and Children’s Services in Nuneaton.

We would be very grateful for Tinned Ham; Slabs of Iced Christmas Cake; Angel Delight or similar; Jelly; Christmas Puddings; Festive biscuits

We will let you know over the coming weeks about shortages, so that we are able to make up parcels in good time for distribution before Christmas

As always, any donations at all are very warmly welcomed, but the above items are particularly needed.

Dave Parr, our warehouse manager, says we are still EXTREMELY WELL STOCKED with Baked Beans, Cereals, Soup and Dry Pasta.

On behalf of the Trustees of the Nuneaton Foodbank, may I thank you all again for your ongoing generous support for the work of the foodbank in Nuneaton.

Kind regards,

David
