31st August 2018 Update and thanks

Dear Foodbank Supporters and Donors,

Since the last update, which was two weeks ago on 15th August, we have distributed food to 162 people, (which has included 53 children).

There is still some data to enter, and we will reflect this in the next update.

Our volunteers have ‘signposted’ the adults visiting our four centres to further help and support in order to begin to move them out of the crisis they are in.

LATEST DATA as at 31st  August – this will be updated in the next update

If you are aware of friends or relatives that might wish to support the work of the foodbank in helping families in need in the local Nuneaton community, and who want to know where they can make food donations, the following places kindly have collection points:-

ASDA; SAINSBURYS; ATTLEBOROUGH CO-OP; BULKINGTON CO-OP; YORKSHIRE BANK; NUNEATON TOWN HALL; CAFFE NERO; NUFFIELD HEALTH GYM and many local churches.

SHOPPING LIST

We know that people like to know what we are particularly in need of when they are thinking of donating food, and at the moment we would be really grateful for:

UHT Milk; Tinned Spaghetti; Instant Mash; Meatballs; Tinned Fruit; (Angel Delight; Jelly – we are already getting stock ready for Christmas)

As always, any donations at all are very warmly welcomed, but the above items are particularly needed.

WE ARE SO GRATEFUL FOR THE ONGOING SUPPORT OF THE COMMUNITY, AS WE WORK TOGETHER TO FEED PEOPLE GOING HUNGRY IN NUNEATON

A HUGE THANK YOU TO THE FIVE SCHOOLS IN THE HOLY SPIRIT CATHOLIC MULTI-ACADEMY

Just before the school holidays began, the five schools that make up the Holy Spirit Catholic Multi – Academy held a special food collection in aid of the Nuneaton Foodbank.

The five schools are St Anne’s Catholic Academy in Nuneaton, Our Lady and St Joseph Catholic Academy in Nuneaton, St Francis Catholic Primary School in Bedworth, St Benedict’s Catholic Primary School in Atherstone, and St Thomas More Catholic School and Sixth Form College in Nuneaton.

The total amount donated by the five schools was 1267.4kgs, which is over 1.24 tons – a remarkable and wonderfully helpful total.

The total amount of food donated to Nuneaton Foodbank between 16th July and 24th August was 3657.2kgs, over a third of which was donated by the five schools.

We are extremely grateful to pupils, parents, staff and friends of the schools.

Pictured here are pupils and staff with some of the food donated at St Thomas More Catholic School and Sixth form College.

THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO DONATES

We all would like to thank everyone who donates to the foodbank –  Churches – Schools – local businesses and organisations, and individual donors, who regularly donate food to help those in need locally.

We are always very pleased to receive individual and corporate cash donations, which help us to purchase bread and spread and other items, such as baby milk, nappies etc which we add to foodparcels as needed.

DRIVERS TO HELP COLLECT HARVEST DONATIONS

As our regular teams of volunteers are working flat out to meet current needs, we would be very grateful indeed for some temporary help over the Harvest period with collections. Some of the schools and churches are able to transport Harvest Donations to the Foodbank Warehouse, but others are unable to do this.

We would greatly appreciate help from a few drivers over the harvest period who could collect harvest donations at fairly short notice, and transport them to the warehouse.

If you could help with this please contact Dave, our warehouse manager by email –

[email protected]       Thank you.

VOLUNTEERING

In order to provide the support needed at our four centres, which working together give access five days a week to emergency food parcels for those in need, we rely on the help of volunteers. We are always grateful for the help of volunteers, and there are a number of different jobs that need to be done in order to enable the Nuneaton Foodbank to operate efficiently.

If you would like to help us by being a volunteer please contact our Volunteer Co-ordinator ([email protected]).

Again many thanks to you all for your ongoing generous support.

Kind regards,

David
