21st September 2018 Update and thanks

Dear Foodbank Supporters and Donors,

Since the last update, which was three weeks ago on 31st August, we have distributed food to

241 people, (which has included 76 children).

There is still some data to enter, and we will reflect this in the next update.

Our volunteers have ‘signposted’ the adults visiting our four centres to further help and support in order to begin to move them out of the crisis they are in.

LATEST DATA as at 21st  September – this will be updated in the next update

Over the past month or two, much more food has been going out than has been coming in, and our stocks of food are EXTREMELY low.

SHOPPING LIST OF ITEMS WE NEED URGENTLY

We know that people like to know what we are particularly in need of when they are thinking of donating food, and at the moment we would be really grateful for:

Small jars of coffee; Custard; Tinned Potatoes; Tinned Carrots; Fruit Juice; Jars of Pasta Sauce; Instant Mash; Tinned Fruit; Biscuits; Puddings

(Angel Delight; Jelly – we are already getting stock ready for Christmas)

As always, any donations at all are very warmly welcomed, but the above items are particularly needed.

If you are aware of friends or relatives that might wish to support the work of the foodbank in helping families in need in the local Nuneaton community, and who want to know where they can make food donations, the following places kindly have collection points:-

ASDA; SAINSBURYS; ATTLEBOROUGH CO-OP; BULKINGTON CO-OP; YORKSHIRE BANK; NUNEATON TOWN HALL; CAFFE NERO; NUFFIELD HEALTH GYM and many local churches.

WE ARE SO GRATEFUL FOR THE ONGOING SUPPORT OF THE COMMUNITY, AS WE WORK TOGETHER TO FEED PEOPLE GOING HUNGRY IN NUNEATON

Staff in two offices have been responding to our appeal for donations

Colleagues working in the Wolvey Offices of Galliford Try Infrastructure have recently decided to set up a permanent Foodbank collection point within their offices, and this has been coordinated by Francesca Simmons.

There is now a display and a collection box for donations to the Nuneaton Foodbank in the offices, and over 106kgs of food has been donated in a very short period of time by colleagues working in Wolvey. We are very grateful indeed for this initiative.

Alison Handley and colleagues working in the offices of REGIS UK have recently held a special donation day in aid of the Nuneaton Foodbank. Alison asked for a list of what we especially needed, and delivered an amazing 179kgs of urgently needed items to us this week. We are again extremely grateful for this wonderful help and support.

THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO DONATES

We all would like to thank everyone who donates to the foodbank –  Churches – Schools – local businesses and organisations, and individual donors, who regularly donate food to help those in need locally.

We are always very pleased to receive individual and corporate cash donations, which help us to purchase bread and spread and other items, such as baby milk, nappies etc which we add to food parcels as needed.

DRIVERS TO HELP COLLECT HARVEST DONATIONS

As our regular teams of volunteers are working flat out to meet current needs, we would be very grateful indeed for some temporary help over the Harvest period with collections. Some of the schools and churches are able to transport Harvest Donations to the Foodbank Warehouse, but others are unable to do this.

We would greatly appreciate help from a few drivers over the harvest period who could collect harvest donations at fairly short notice, and transport them to the warehouse.

If you could help with this please contact Dave, our warehouse manager by email –[email protected]       Thank you.

 WE URGENTLY NEED VOLUNTEERS

In order to continue to provide the support needed at our four centres, which working together give access five days a week to emergency food parcels for those in need, we rely on the help of volunteers. We are always grateful for the help of volunteers, and there are a number of different jobs that need to be done in order to enable the Nuneaton Foodbank to operate efficiently.

PLEASE CAN YOU HELP?

If you would like to help us by being a volunteer please contact our Volunteer Co-ordinator ([email protected]).

Again many thanks to you all for your ongoing generous support.

Kind regards,

David
