25th May 2019 Update and thanks
Dear Foodbank Supporters and Donors,
Since the last update two weeks ago on 10th May, we have distributed food to 164 people, (which has included 53 children). Our volunteers have ‘signposted’ the adults visiting our four centres to further help and support in order to begin to move them out of the crisis they are in.

As you can see, we have had 1.45 tons of food generously donated over this period, but have distributed 1.52 tons – we have distributed 70.0kgs (0.07 of a ton) more than has been donated over the period.
This has meant that 2.97 tons of food has been processed by the warehouse team since the last update, and we would like to thank all those volunteers involved in collecting, sorting, dating, stacking, and then preparing requisitions to go out from the warehouse.
We have been extremely grateful for all the donations we have received over this period, and we have distributed all of this, and 0.07 tons more than this. We could not have done this without your help and support.
A VERY BIG THANK YOU TO COLLEAGUES AT REGIS UK IN COVENTRY
We would like to thank all the team working at REGIS UK for their ongoing support. Colleagues very kindly make regular contributions to a ‘donations’ tin, and then Alison Handley contacts us to see if there are specific items we are in need of, and then arranges to purchase these items and bring them to our warehouse. As you can see from this photograph, Alison is just about to unload the boot of her car, which is packed with many of the items which appeared on the ‘ items urgently needed list’ in our last update. Thank you again Alison and everyone at REGIS UK in Coventry.
THANK YOU SO MUCH ONCE AGAIN – S&K SUPERMARKET IN ARBURY ROAD
On Friday 17th May, we were presented with a cheque for £250 by Suk and Manjit Kalmwho own the S&K Supermarket in Arbury Road. Suk and Manjit have once again very generously donated their winning award from the Nisa ‘Making A Difference Locally’ (MADL) charitable foundation to the Nuneaton Foodbank.
We are extremely grateful to receive this ongoing financial support from S&K Supermarket.
Suk Sohal said that both he and Manjit were very keen that the Nuneaton Foodbank had this financial support to help local people in need in the Nuneaton area.

A HUGE THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO DONATES
We all would like to thank everyone who donates to the foodbank – Churches – Schools – local businesses and organisations, and individual donors, who regularly donate food to help those in need locally.
We are always very pleased to receive individual and corporate cash donations, which help us to purchase bread and spread and other items, such as baby milk, nappies etc which we add to food parcels as needed.
SHOPPING LIST OF ITEMS WE NEED URGENTLY
We know that people like to know what we are particularly in need of when they are thinking of donating food, and at the moment we would be really grateful for:–
Tinned Meat (Luncheon Meat/Corned Beef/Ham); Tinned Fruit, Fruit Juice; Steamed Puddings; Tinned Rice Puddings; Cuppa Soups; UHT Milk; Tinned or cartoned custard; Small instant coffee
As always, any donations at all are very warmly welcomed, but the above items are particularly needed.
If you are aware of friends or relatives that might wish to support the work of the foodbank in helping families in need in the local Nuneaton community, and who want to know where they can make food donations, the following places kindly have collection points:-
ASDA; SAINSBURYS; ATTLEBOROUGH CO-OP; BULKINGTON CO-OP; YORKSHIRE BANK; NUNEATON TOWN HALL; CAFFE NERO; NUFFIELD HEALTH GYM and many local churches.
WE URGENTLY NEED VOLUNTEERS
In order to continue to provide the support needed at our four centres, which working together give access five days a week to emergency food parcels for those in need, we rely on the help of volunteers. We are always grateful for the help of volunteers, and there are a number of different jobs that need to be done in order to enable the Nuneaton Foodbank to operate efficiently.

TESCO FOOD COLLECTION
This is taking place on Friday 28th June, and Saturday 29th June.
At the last national collection at the end of November, working with Bedworth Foodbank at Bedworth , WITH YOUR HELP AND KIND SUPPORT we collected well over 2.56 tons of food, which was a tremendous help to us in meeting the increasing need in Nuneaton.
We now need volunteers for Friday 28th June and Saturday 29th June.
As our regular teams of volunteers will all be working at our food distribution centres on Friday –(we have two regular sessions taking place on Fridays) we really need a large number of volunteers to help us over these two days, and would greatly appreciate your help for one or two hours, especially in the afternoons.
We would really welcome some ‘ONE OFF’ help from people who aren’t volunteers on a regular basis, to support the core team of volunteers.
We will arrange a short briefing beforehand, especially for people who have not done this before, and would really encourage you to help us, on a ‘one off’ basis.
