6th July 2019 Update and thanks

Dear Foodbank Supporters and Donors,

Since the last update two weeks ago on 22nd June, we have distributed food to 180 people, (which has included 65 children). Our volunteers have ‘signposted’ the adults visiting our four centres to further help and support in order to begin to move them out of the crisis they are in.

LATEST DATA as at 6th July – data that was unavailable will appear in the next update

THANK YOU SO MUCH EVERYONE FOR SUPPORTING

THE TESCO  FOOD COLLECTION

On Friday 28th June, and Saturday 29th June.

I am sure that you will be delighted to know that the total amount of food kindly donated over the two days was 1886.2kgs which is 1.85 tons

We are really so very grateful to all the generous shoppers who kindly donated food for those in need in Nuneaton and Bedworth, and to all the volunteers without whose help and support this collection could not have taken place.

We have shared the donated food with Bedworth Foodbank, and they have received 628.7kgs of food, and we have received 1257.5kgs of food.

WE ARE INDEBTED TO OWEN CULSHAW, THE MANAGER OF TESCO BEDWORTH, TO RAJ SAIDHA FROM THE MANAGEMENT TEAM, AND TO KIMBERLEY ROLLINGS,THE COMMUNITY CHAMPION FOR ENABLING THIS COLLECTION TO TAKE PLACE, AND TO ALL THE STAFF FOR THEIR HELP AND SUPPORT, AND TO ALL THE VOLUNTEERS WHO HELPED OVER THE TWO DAYS

As you can see, we have had 2.06 tons of food generously donated over this period, but have distributed 1.59 tons.

Without the TESCO collection we would have distributed 739.7kgs (0.73 of a tonmore than had been donated over the period – so this collection has helped us enormously.

A HUGE THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO DONATES

We all would like to thank everyone who donates to the foodbank –  Churches – Schools – local businesses and organisations, and individual donors, who regularly donate food to help those in need locally.

We are always very pleased to receive individual and corporate cash donations, which help us to purchase bread and spread and other items, such as baby milk, nappies etc which we add to food parcels as needed.

 NEW DONOR

There has recently been a collection by the Hawkins Group, across their local offices, to support the Nuneaton Foodbank. It was part of a drive across a national organisation, the Relocation Agent Network, to support local foodbanks.

We are very grateful to Roy Hawkins for organising this collection, which has been especially helpful to us, with the increased numbers of local people using the Nuneaton Foodbank after being referred by professional agencies.

We hope that the success of this collection by the Hawkins Group might inspire other organisations to hold similar collections to help meet local need.

Pictured here with just some of the donations are David Craddick (Nuneaton Foodbank Trustee) and Roy Hawkins.

SHOPPING LIST OF ITEMS WE NEED URGENTLY

We know that people like to know what we are particularly in need of when they are thinking of donating food, and at the moment we would be really grateful for:

Puddings; Tinned Spaghetti; Jam; Rice Puddings; Plain packets of Rice; Fruit Juice; UHT Milk

We also need:- Toothbrushes; Toothpaste; Shower gel; Soap; Hair Shampoo; Shaving Gel or Foam; Deodrants; Disposable safety razors; Washing up liquid

As always, any donations at all are very warmly welcomed, but the above items are particularly needed.

If you are aware of friends or relatives that might wish to support the work of the foodbank in helping families in need in the local Nuneaton community, and who want to know where they can make food donations, the following places kindly have collection points:-

ASDA; SAINSBURYS; ATTLEBOROUGH CO-OP; BULKINGTON CO-OP; YORKSHIRE BANK; NUNEATON TOWN HALL; CAFFE NERO; NUFFIELD HEALTH GYM and many local churches.

WE URGENTLY NEED VOLUNTEERS

In order to continue to provide the support needed at our four centres, which working together give access five days a week to emergency food parcels for those in need, we rely on the help of volunteers. We are always grateful for the help of volunteers, and there are a number of different jobs that need to be done in order to enable the Nuneaton Foodbank to operate efficiently.

PLEASE CAN YOU HELP?

If you would like to help us by being a volunteer please contact our Volunteer Co-ordinator ([email protected])

Again many thanks to you all for your ongoing generous support.

Kind regards,

David
