20th July 2019 Update and thanks

Dear Foodbank Supporters and Donors,

Since the last update two weeks ago on 6th July, we have distributed food to 260 people, (which has included 107 children). Our volunteers have ‘signposted’ the adults visiting our four centres to further help and support in order to begin to move them out of the crisis they are in.

We have fed more people in the last fortnight than at any time since Nuneaton Foodbank started in April 2013. This last Wednesday, 17th July, we fed 36 people in one afternoon session, which included 19 children.

Thank you to all the generous shoppers who donated at the special ASDA Food Drive collection at the Nuneaton ASDA store on 10th and 12th July. Volunteers spoke to shoppers and distributed lists of priority items.

An amazing 629.1kgs ( 0.61 of a ton) of food was kindly donated by shoppers. Thank you so much for your help.

Without this ASDA Food Drive collection we would have distributed 629.1kgs (0.61 of a tonmore than had been donated over the period – so this collection has helped us enormously.

The team of volunteers at the warehouse have processed 3.7983 tons of food over the past two weeks – thank you to all of the team.

THANK YOU ….We would like to thank colleagues at Meggitt Aerospace for their recent donation, and also NCF Team 1 and NCF Team 5 from the National Citizens Service for their recent donations.

A HUGE THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO DONATES

We all would like to thank everyone who donates to the foodbank –  Churches – Schools – local businesses and organisations, and individual donors, who regularly donate food to help those in need locally.

We are always very pleased to receive individual and corporate cash donations, which help us to purchase bread and spread and other items, such as baby milk, nappies etc which we add to food parcels as needed.

JIREH CHAPEL ATTLEBOROUGH

We would like to welcome the congregation of Jireh Chapel Attleborough, who have kindly requested a Foodbank collection box, as new donors to the Nuneaton Foodbank.

Although the collection box has only been in place a few days, Pastor Tim Parish reports that the box is already filling, which is very good news. We are very grateful to the congregation for their support, as the number of people needing help in the Nuneaton Community has increased significantly recently.

SHOPPING LIST OF ITEMS WE NEED URGENTLY

We know that people like to know what we are particularly in need of when they are thinking of donating food, and at the moment we would be really grateful for:

Puddings; Tinned Spaghetti; Jam; Rice Puddings; Tinned Stews; Small jars of coffee; Plain packets of Rice; Fruit Juice; UHT Milk

We also need:- Toothbrushes; Toothpaste; Shower gel; Soap; Hair Shampoo; Shaving Gel or Foam; Deodrants; Disposable safety razors; Washing up liquid

As always, any donations at all are very warmly welcomed, but the above items are particularly needed.

If you are aware of friends or relatives that might wish to support the work of the foodbank in helping families in need in the local Nuneaton community, and who want to know where they can make food donations, the following places kindly have collection points:-

ASDA; SAINSBURYS; ATTLEBOROUGH CO-OP; BULKINGTON CO-OP; YORKSHIRE BANK; NUNEATON TOWN HALL; CAFFE NERO; NUFFIELD HEALTH GYM and many local churches and chapels.

WE URGENTLY NEED VOLUNTEERS

In order to continue to provide the support needed at our four centres, which working together give access five days a week to emergency food parcels for those in need, we rely on the help of volunteers. We are always grateful for the help of volunteers, and there are a number of different jobs that need to be done in order to enable the Nuneaton Foodbank to operate efficiently.

PLEASE CAN YOU HELP?

If you would like to help us by being a volunteer please contact our Volunteer Co-ordinator ([email protected])

Again many thanks to you all for your ongoing generous support.

Kind regards,

David
