Nuneaton Foodbank – latest update 8th January 2020

8th January 2020

8th January 2020 Update and thanks

Dear Foodbank Supporters and Donors,

THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH FOR YOUR HELP AND SUPPORT

We would like to thank you, our wonderfully generous donors, for your amazing support over the Christmas period. Since 1st December we have gratefully received over 8 TONS of food to help those in need in the Nuneaton area. We have received donations from many, many individual donors, from local businesses and organisations, from churches and chapels, from supermarkets and shops, from schools, from nurseries – in fact the range of extremely kind donors is incredibly wide. You have all been so very kind in your support for those in need in our community. Your help and support has made such a difference to so many families and individuals at Christmas time, and we really can’t say how grateful we are to you enough.

I often try to write an individual letter of thanks alongside the acknowledgements I send out for donations, but with well over 100 different donors or groups of donors, I hope that you will not be offended if you don’t receive an individual letter of thanks, and understand that on this occasion I’m not going to be able to do this. I am attempting to get acknowledgements out as quickly as I can, but our main focus is on meeting the day to day needs of the people being referred to the foodbank.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH THE ROTARY CLUB OF ARBURY

We would like to thank members of The Rotary Club of Arbury for their ongoing support and for their recent generous donation of £308 to Nuneaton Foodbank.

These sorts of very helpful cash donations are invaluable to the Foodbank, as they enable us to buy items that we are very short

of when making up food parcels, and also to purchase bread and with spread, which go out with each foodparcel.

THANK YOU AGAIN VERY MUCH INDEED – S&K SUPERMARKET IN ARBURY ROAD

For over two years now we have continued to have very generous financial support from the owners of the NISA supermarket on Arbury Road, which has been extremely helpful. On Friday 29th November, we were presented with another cheque for £200 by Suk and Manjit Kalm who own the S&K Supermarket in Arbury Road.

Suk and Manjit have once again kindly nominated Nuneaton Foodbank to the Nisa ‘Making A Difference Locally’ (MADL) charitable foundation.

We are so very grateful to Suk and Manjit Kalm for their support for Nuneaton Foodbank – their help is really ‘Making a difference’

A HUGE THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO DONATES

We all would like to thank everyone who donates to the foodbank –  Churches and Chapels – Schools – local businesses and organisations, and individual donors, who regularly donate food to help those in need locally.

We are always very pleased to receive individual and corporate cash donations, which help us to purchase bread and spread and other items, such as baby milk, nappies etc which we add to food parcels as needed.

SHOPPING LIST OF ITEMS WE NEED URGENTLY

We know that people like to know what we are particularly in need of when they are thinking of donating food, and at the moment we would be really grateful for:-

Tinned Carrots; Fruit Juice ; Small jars of coffee; Instant Mashed Potato;

As always, all donations are very gratefully received, but the above items are particularly needed.

If you are aware of friends or relatives that might wish to support the work of the foodbank in helping families in need in the local Nuneaton community, and who want to know where they can make food donations, the following places kindly have collection points:-

ASDA; SAINSBURYS; ATTLEBOROUGH CO-OP; BULKINGTON CO-OP; GALLEY COMMON CO-OP; YORKSHIRE BANK; NUNEATON TOWN HALL; CAFFE NERO; NUFFIELD HEALTH GYM and many local churches and chapels.

WE ARE ALWAYS GRATEFUL FOR VOLUNTEERS

In order to continue to provide the support needed at our four centres, which working together give access five days a week to emergency food parcels for those in need, we rely on the help of volunteers. We are always grateful for the help of volunteers, and there are a number of different jobs that need to be done in order to enable the Nuneaton Foodbank to operate efficiently.

MIGHT YOU BE ABLE TO HELP?

If you would like to help us by being a volunteer please contact our Volunteer Co-ordinator for further information ([email protected])

Again many thanks to you all for your ongoing generous support.

Kind regards,

David
