13th March 2020

13th March 2020 Update and thanks

Dear Foodbank Supporters and Donors,

With your generous ongoing help and support, since the last update on 29th February, we have distributed food to 177 people, (which has included 73 children). Our volunteers have ‘signposted’ the adults visiting our four centres to further help and support in order to begin to move them out of the crisis they are in

You will see from the table below that with your help and support we have fed 5084 people since 1st April. At this date last year we had fed 4346 people. This is an increase year on year of 16.98% overall for adults and children. The increase in children fed for this period is 26.21%.

We must stress that this is the position at our warehouse at the time of writing, and our next update will again reflect the changing situation, which fluctuates depending on the number of parcels we make up over the coming days. We thought that you would like to have this information, so that you know what we have sufficient stocks of at the moment, and what we are short of.

However, as always, all donations are very gratefully received.

If this situation changes, we will update the ‘Donate Food’ section of our website – which is www.nuneaton.foodbank.org.uk  – click on the ‘Donate Food’ button

Unfortunately we are no longer able to accept Infant Formula Milk and Baby Food, due to a UNICEF directive

On our website www.nuneaton.foodbank.org.uk we now have on the GIVE HELP section, under the DONATE MONEY section – ONE OFF GIFTS – a ‘button’ which allows you to donate directly to Nuneaton Foodbank. We have been asked by many people recently if we could put this donation opportunity onto our website.

OUR GRATEFUL THANKS TO S&K SUPERMARKET IN ARBURY ROAD

For the last two years we have had ongoing very generous financial support from Suk and Manjit Kalm, the owners of the NISA supermarket on Arbury Road.

On Thursday March 5th we were presented with another cheque for £200 by Manjit Kalm from the S&K Supermarket in Arbury Road.

Suk and Manjit have once again kindly nominated Nuneaton Foodbank to the Nisa ‘Making A Difference Locally’ (MADL) charitable foundation.

We are so very grateful to Suk and Manjit Kalm for their support for Nuneaton Foodbank – their help is really ‘Making a difference’

Pictured here (left to right) are:- David Craddick (Nuneaton Foodbank Trustee); Fliss Hey (Nuneaton Foodbank Volunteer); Richard Fleming (Nuneaton Foodbank Operations Coordinator); Jade Stringer (S&K Supermarket) and Manjit Kalm (Owner -S&K Supermarket)

A HUGE THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO DONATES

We all would like to thank everyone who donates to the foodbank –  Churches and Chapels – Schools – local businesses and organisations, and individual donors, who regularly donate food to help those in need locally.

We are always very pleased to receive individual and corporate cash donations, which help us to purchase bread and spread and other items, such as baby milk, nappies etc which we add to food parcels as needed.

If you are aware of friends or relatives that might wish to support the work of the foodbank in helping families in need in the local Nuneaton community, and who want to know where they can make food donations, the following places kindly have collection points:-

ASDA; SAINSBURYS; ATTLEBOROUGH CO-OP; BULKINGTON CO-OP; GALLEY COMMON CO-OP; YORKSHIRE BANK; NUNEATON TOWN HALL; CAFFE NERO; NUFFIELD HEALTH GYM and many local churches and chapels.

WE ARE ALWAYS GRATEFUL FOR VOLUNTEERS

In order to continue to provide the support needed at our four centres, which working together give access five days a week to emergency food parcels for those in need, we rely on the help of volunteers. We are always grateful for the help of volunteers, and there are a number of different jobs that need to be done in order to enable the Nuneaton Foodbank to operate efficiently.

MIGHT YOU BE ABLE TO HELP?

If you would like to help us by being a volunteer please contact our Volunteer Co-ordinator for further information ([email protected])

Again many thanks to you all for your ongoing generous support.

Kind regards,

David
