Nuneaton Foodbank Update and thanks

Dear Foodbank Supporters, Donors and Volunteers,

With your generous ongoing help and support, since our last update on 24th July, we have distributed food to 899 people, (which has included 268 children).

THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO HAS EITHER DONATED FOOD OR MADE FINANCIAL DONATIONS SINCE OUR LAST UPDATE.

We really appreciate your ongoing support. We could not have done all that has been done over the past weeks without your help, and we are really grateful to you all.

Thank you to all our volunteers, both those running the two sessions each week at each of our four centres, and to those working behind the scenes to ensure donations reach our centres.

TWO IMPORTANT CHANGES WE ARE HAVING TO MAKE

1. Unfortunately, due to a range of circumstances, we are no longer able to use the Priory Warehouse in Stockingford for food storage. We are very grateful indeed to Mr Les Pipe for allowing us to have the use of this warehouse since January 2013. The Trustees of Nuneaton Foodbank are working hard to identify suitable alternative storage locally.

Manor Court Baptist Church have very kindly allowed us to have a temporary Drop Off Point for donations at the church, which will be open to receive donations on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 9.00am -10.30am. Please could you make sure that you pin a label which identifies who the donation is from, OUTSIDE each bag of donations – this would be very helpful indeed.

2. Virgin Money Giving, which Nuneaton Foodbank has been using as an online giving platform, is withdrawing this service at the end of November. We are replacing our online giving platform with ‘Just Giving’, and have now made the changeover. Just Giving offer the same facilities as Virgin Money Giving, and we hope that you have no difficulty when you use it.

FOOD DONATIONS

A number of our regular donation points in churches, chapels and organisations are still not able to operate, and we are dependent on donations at supermarkets such as ASDA, Sainsburys, and The Co-op. The supermarkets have gently requested that only food purchased at their stores is donated in their collection points. There is a collection point at Dunelm Mill in Regent Street, but some of the other collection points unfortunately are still unavailable.

THANK YOU – a special thank you to 1st Nuneaton Walsh Cubs and also to Keresley Cub Scouts, for their much-valued support.

THANK YOU – financial donations

We would like to say a big thank the following organisations for their recent extremely helpful financial donations:- S and K Supermarket in Arbury Road and NISA MADL Charity; St Nicolas Church WI; Warwickshire County Council; Holy Trinity Church Attleborough; Nuneaton Methodist Church; Heath End Wesleyan Reform Church; St Nicolas Church Nuneaton and Manor Court Baptist Church.
Since our last update we have also been fortunate to have had a number of very generous personal donations for which we are extremely grateful.
We have also received a number of really helpful donations which have been made through our website www.nuneaton.foodbank.org.uk at the GIVE HELP section – (see details further down in this update).
We would like to say a very big thank you to all of those who have made financial donations to the Nuneaton Foodbank –your help is really helping appreciated as we work to support those in need in our Nuneaton Community.

A HUGE THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO DONATES

We would like to thank everyone who donates to the foodbank in whatever way – your help and your support are greatly appreciated.

SHOPPING LIST

We know that people like to know what we are particularly in need of when they are thinking of donating, and at the moment would be really grateful for:-

HOW CAN YOU CONTINUE TO HELP?

Many people continue to contact us to ask if they can make financial donations, as they are unable to get out to shop.
We are pleased to let you know that we are able to receive donations through the ‘Donate’ button on our website.

On our website www.nuneaton.foodbank.org.uk we have on the GIVE HELP section, under the DONATE MONEY section – ONE OFF GIFTS – a ‘button’ which allows you to donate directly to Nuneaton Foodbank.

We are tremendously grateful for the very encouraging response from many members of the local community and organisations via this link on our Nuneaton Foodbank website.

GIFT AID REALLY HAS MADE A DIFFERENCE

We would like to acknowledge and sincerely thank the growing number of people who are donating financially to the Foodbank on a regular basis. Many donors are using the HMRC scheme called ‘Gift Aid’ to increase their donations by 25p for every £1 they donate.

Copies of the Gift Aid form can be found on the Nuneaton Foodbank website.

If you are aware of friends or relatives that might wish to support the work of the foodbank in helping families in need in the local Nuneaton community, and who want to know where they can make food donations, the following places kindly have collection points:-

ASDA; SAINSBURYS; ATTLEBOROUGH CO-OP; BULKINGTON CO-OP; GALLEY COMMON CO-OP;
(Please only donate items purchased from the stores) DUNELM MILL.

Again, many thanks to you all for your ongoing generous support.

Kind regards,

Richard Fleming
