Nuneaton Foodbank Update and thanks

Dear Foodbank Supporters, Donors and Volunteers,

With your generous ongoing help and support, since our last update on 24th October, we have distributed food to 478 people, (which has included 158 children).

THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO HAS EITHER DONATED FOOD OR MADE FINANCIAL DONATIONS SINCE OUR LAST UPDATE.

We really appreciate your ongoing support. We could not have done all that has been done over the past weeks without your help, and we are really grateful to you all.

Thank you to all our volunteers, both those running the two sessions each week at each of our four centres, and to those working behind the scenes to ensure donations reach our centres.

TWO IMPORTANT CHANGES WE ARE HAVING TO MAKE

1. With the generous support of the Trustees of Fife Street Wesleyan Reform Church we have managed to secure temporary accommodation in the Hall next to the church in Fife Street. We are very grateful indeed for this provision, and we are beginning to get back to as near normal a ‘warehouse operation’ as we can. This means that donations can now be dropped off at the Fife Street location, where there is parking space outside. It will be open to receive donations of packaged food on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 9.00am to 11.30am.

Please could you make sure that you pin a label which identifies who the donation is from, OUTSIDE each bag of donations –this would be very helpful indeed.

2. Virgin Money Giving, which Nuneaton Foodbank has been using as an online giving platform, withdrew this service at the end of November. We have replaced our online giving platform with ‘Just Giving’. Just Giving offer the same facilities as Virgin Money Giving, and we hope that you have no difficulty when you use it.

FOOD DONATIONS

A number of our regular donation points in churches, chapels and organisations are still not able to operate, and we are dependent on donations at supermarkets such as ASDA, Sainsburys, and The Co-op. The supermarkets have gently requested that only food purchased at their stores is donated in their collection points. There is a collection point at Dunelm Mill in Regent Street, but some of the other collection points unfortunately are still unavailable.

THANK YOU a special thank you for food donations to the following schools and nurseries: -Abbey CE Primary School; Apple Grove Day Nursery; Arc School; Cheeky Monkeys Day Nursery; Chilvers CotonInfant School; Michael Drayton Junior School; Nursery Hill Primary School; Queens Academy; St Anne’s Catholic Primary School; Willow Brooke Day Nursery. We do really appreciate this tremendous support from schools and nurseries.

THANK YOU – financial donations

We would like to say a big thank the following organisations for their recent extremely helpful financial donations:-Attleborough Knitters; Wolvey Bridge Club; Hinckley Social Theatre and Travel Club and Geosynthetics; Manor Court Baptist Church; Fillongley PCC; Wolvey Churches; St Nicolas Church Nuneaton; Holy Trinity Church Attleborough; Community of Christ; Holy Trinity Hartshill.

THANK YOU SO MUCH GEOSYNTHETICS IN HINCKLEY

Staff members at Geosynthetics have very kindly taken part in a variety of fundraising events for their local foodbanks. Activities have included abseiling, a themed dressing up day, and gunge dunking to mention just a few of their amazing fundraising events.

They raised a terrific £10,000 which they have very generously shared between Hinckley Foodbank and Nuneaton Foodbank. We are so very grateful for the support of everyone from Geosynthetics for this brilliant achievement. Pictured here left to right are Gordon Trehy –Business Development Director at Geosynthetics, Chris and Julie from Hinckley Foodbank; Richard Fleming and Jim Keeley from Nuneaton Foodbank.

Since our last update we have also been fortunate to have had a number of very generous personal donations for which we are extremely grateful. We have also received a number of really helpful donations which have been made through our website www.nuneaton.foodbank.org.ukat the GIVE HELP section –(see details further down in this update). We would like to say a very big thank you to all of those who have made financial donations to the NuneatonFoodbank –your help is really helping appreciated as we work to support those in need in our Nuneaton Community.

A HUGE THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO DONATES

We would like to thank everyone who donates to the foodbank in whatever way – your help and your support are greatly appreciated.

SHOPPING LIST

We know that people like to know what we are particularly in need of when they are thinking of donating, and at the moment would be really grateful for:-

HOW CAN YOU CONTINUE TO HELP?

Many people continue to contact us to ask if they can make financial donations, as they are unable to get out to shop. We are pleased to let you know that we are able to receive donations through the ‘Donate’ button on our website.

On our website www.nuneaton.foodbank.org.uk we have on the GIVE HELP section, under the DONATE MONEY section – ONE OFF GIFTS – a ‘button’ which allows you to donate directly to Nuneaton Foodbank.

We are tremendously grateful for the very encouraging response from many members of the local community and organisations via this link on our Nuneaton Foodbank website.

GIFT AID REALLY HAS MADE A DIFFERENCE

We would like to acknowledge and sincerely thank the growing number of people who are donating financially to the Foodbank on a regular basis. Many donors are using the HMRC scheme called ‘Gift Aid’ to increase their donations by 25p for every £1 they donate.

Copies of the Gift Aid form can be found on the Nuneaton Foodbank website.

If you are aware of friends or relatives that might wish to support the work of the foodbank in helping families in need in the local Nuneaton community, and who want to know where they can make food donations, the following places kindly have collection points:-

ASDA; SAINSBURYS; ATTLEBOROUGH CO-OP; BULKINGTON CO-OP; GALLEY COMMON CO-OP;
(Please only donate items purchased from the stores) DUNELM MILL.

Again, many thanks to you all for your ongoing generous support.

Kind regards,

Richard Fleming

Nuneaton Foodbank Project and Operations Manager
